M5-002: Empty Can Chute Is Full

What it means:

Ovvi’s Empty Can Chute has reached full capacity. It currently holds 8 used cans and lids, which is the maximum it can store. This alert is triggered when the 8th used can is inserted into the Empty Can Chute.

How to fix it:

  1. Remove the Chute System from Ovvi. (NOTE: See the Important Note section below for guidance on when it is safe to remove the Chute System and when it is not.)

  2. Hold it over a low-filled trash can (up to 8 used cans may eject at once) so that the cans do not spill out over the trash can.

  3. Press the Eject button to clear all used cans and lids.

  4. Fill the New Can Chute with up to 8 new cans and reinsert the Chute System — Ovvi will automatically resume feeding or prepare for the next feeding.

NOTE: If you do not refill with at least 1 new can, it will trigger the following error message: A6-002: No New Cans Detected.

Important: Don’t Remove the Chute While Ovvi Is Active

Please do not attempt to remove the chute system if:

  • You hear Ovvi’s internal gears or motors working

  • The front LED light is pulsing or rotating

  • Ovvi is in the middle of a feeding

During these times, Ovvi’s internal chute lock system is engaged and will prevent removal. If you feel resistance, do not forcefully pull — this can damage both the chute system and Ovvi’s internal structure.

Wait until Ovvi is:

  • Completely silent

  • Showing a solid color LED light (any color is OK)

  • Not opening the food door when you approach (because the scheduled portion has already been eaten)

That’s when it’s safe to remove the chute system.
