A5-001: Disposal Error

What it means:

Ovvi attempted to dispose of a used can and lid, but it could not be placed into the Used Can Chute.

This error occurs in two scenarios:

1. Chute Full:

    • You already received A5-002: Chute Full error.
    • Ovvi then tried to lift the 9th used can and lid into the used can chute and could not, because the chute is full.

2. Chute Jammed (Tilted Cans):

    • The used can chute is not completely full, but one or more cans and/or lids are tilted or misaligned, blocking movement.
    • This prevents the new used can and lid from being placed inside.

NOTE: If this error occurs in conjunction with A7-002: Carousel Jam, use the resolution proposed for the A7-002 error to resolve both issues.  If you do not have the A7-002 error as well, then use the resolution below.

How to fix it:

  1. Remove the Chute System.  (NOTE: See the Important Note section below for guidance on when it is safe to remove the Chute System and when it is not.)

  2. Eject and dispose of all used cans and lids.

  3. Double-check that the chute is completely clear and that no cans/lids are stuck or tilted.

  4. Load at least 1 new can in the New Can Chute.

  5. Reinsert the chute system securely.

  6. Ovvi will automatically retry moving the used can into the Used Can Chute.  Once successful, Ovvi will operate as normal.

Important: Don’t Remove the Chute While Ovvi Is Active

Please do not attempt to remove the chute system if:

  • You hear Ovvi’s internal gears or motors working

  • The front LED light is pulsing or rotating

  • Ovvi is in the middle of a feeding

During these times, Ovvi’s internal chute lock system is engaged and will prevent removal. If you feel resistance, do not forcefully pull — this can damage both the chute system and Ovvi’s internal structure.

Wait until Ovvi is:

  • Completely silent

  • Showing a solid color LED light (any color is OK)

  • Not opening the food door when you approach (because the scheduled portion has already been eaten)

That’s when it’s safe to remove the chute system.
