It’s common for dogs to fall in love with humans, other dogs, and even random animals. On the other hand, cats are often more reserved and independent. However, while cats are more hesitant around other species, it doesn’t mean they never make friends. Here are eight heartwarming friendships between cats and other creatures.
#1 – Raven and Woodhouse
Raven the Husky needed a friend, but her family wasn’t interested in taking on another dog. So, instead, they let Raven visit the shelter to pick out a cat to be her best friend. She felt an instant connection to Woodhouse, so her family adopted him. The dog and cat duo spent lots of time playing and cuddling together, and they’re still besties to this day. They now share their adventures on Instagram.
#2 – Chama and U-Chan
Most people think cats hunt birds, but that’s not always the case. U-Chan the budgie is best friends with Chama the cat. An adorable video shows U-Chan waking up his feline friend. And then, Chama sleepily plays with the bird in return.
#3 – Wild Cat and Fox
Friendships aren’t forced, they just happen. A photographer caught a series of beautiful photos of a cat and fox playing together in the wild. They chased each other, playfully nibbled on each other, and even cuddled with each other.
#4 – Galaxy and Bernie
If you thought a cat and bird was an unusual friendship, wait until you see this cat and rat! Bernie the rat’s family didn’t expect him to get along with Galaxy the cat when they first brought him home. But to their surprise, Galaxy made him feel right at home. #5 – Cat, Guinea Pig, and… Squirrel?
Here’s another cat that’s friends with a creature that’s usually prey. A charming video shows a cat and guinea pig looking out the window together. When a man found an injured magpie named Swoop on the side of the road, he was hesitant to introduce him to his cat, Mowgli. But when he brought the bird home to rehabilitate him, Mowgli accepted the feathered friend as one of his own. The two cuddled and played together as if they’ve known each other their whole lives. And now, they have an Instagram page that showcases their many other animal friends too.

Puppet the cat loves Puff the bearded dragon. The duo became famous after their human shared a video of them cuddling by the window. They’re clearly very comfortable around each other despite being two very different species.
